Gear:

Choose reliable gear that won't break down or cause discomfort during your heli trip. Avoid using new or outdated gear that could fail or lead to discomfort.

Board:

Opt for a suitable board, such as a long powder gun or a shorter, more maneuverable fish-style board for better flotation and versatility, especially in tight trees.

Boots:

Stick to your regular boots, ensuring they're broken in before the heli trip. Avoid overly stiff or soft boots and steer clear of step-ins to prevent powder clogging and binding issues.

Bindings:

Avoid step-in bindings due to potential clogging. Opt for standard freestyle or freeride bindings and bring spare parts like ratchets, ladders, and straps if available.

Clothing:

Choose waterproof, breathable materials like Gore-Tex for optimal performance. Layer your clothing to adapt to changing temperatures and bring extra base layers and a spare puffy coat. Don't forget warm, waterproof gloves, a protective buff for your face, and consider wearing a helmet. Pack two pairs of goggles and extra lenses.

Skill level:

Ensure prior experience riding powder and proficiency in handling black runs and tree runs at your local mountain. Master turning and avoid relying solely on sideslipping. Spend time in the trees, preferably with deep snow, to improve timing and control.
